No meeting today!

Looks like I have to hold off on class today. I have to still sign a contract with Up Town Cincinnati on our project before we can start work on the wall. This is tentatively to take place tomorrow Tuesday May 21st. Once the contract is signed we will have the green light to start preparing the wall and a check for the materials will come shortly after. The business owners in short vine like the project, so we have their blessing. WE will meet Wednesday the 22nd in room 4340 to plan our remaining schedule for the community piece. Hope all is well,

No Meeting today - Monday 13 of May

Hello Dear Art in the Market group,
Our meeting today will not be possible because of unexpected construction in DAAP building. We apologize for the late post on that, but we mistakenly assumed that the classroom would be available up to this time. We will keep in touch to inform you where we will be meeting next Wednesday.

Best regard!

DAAP Cares

Last week we had a great time sharing with UC and Cincinnati community some of things we do in art in the Market at DAAP CARES. DAAP Cares is an event that exposes projects and initiative, campaigned by DAAP`s departments, aiming to contribute to social issues. Doctor Flavia Bastos, Curtis Smith and Felix Rodriguez were there on behalf of Art in the Market Project.

Artists lectures and Gallery Visits

Part of our goal is to expose Art in the Market students to lectures and Art Exhibition of contemporary artists to provoke awareness and discussions of what is going on today`s art world. We understand that sometimes there is a gap between what is taught as art in schools and what is actuality happening in the art world. Therefore, we aim to use visiting artists and exhibitions as opportunities to reduce this gap and to introduce the student’s reflection and discussions about postmodern art.

Portfolios

Since the beginning of the period we have been assisting the students in completing successful portfolio for College applications. They found this assistance very valuable, whereas, portfolios are a very important component for university admission and scholarship applications.
