Third Class Meeting

Hello Art in the Market enthusiasts,
This past Tuesday's class was a great success,
a big thank you to the 27 people who showed up.

During our third meeting, everyone worked hard designing their AITM T-Shirt logo.

All of the illustrations were quite impressive!

Everyone got to vote for two designs, there were nearly 30 to choose from!

The group surveying the different designs...

At the end of the day, it was so hard to choose two favorites!

At last, the chosen Art in the Market T-Shirt Design.

A close runner up.

On Tuesday, November 1st - We will be screen printing the winning AITM design.
Don't forget to bring a T-Shirt to print on!

We look forward to seeing you all this Saturday, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM,
You won't want to miss the great project Katie has lined up for everyone to work on!

First Class Meeting

On Tues. October, 18th - this year's Art in the Market program had it's first meeting!
We met new people, learned about each other, listened to music and ate pizza.
Students had the chance to design or collage their own individual sketchbooks.

During the last half-hour of our meeting we discussed our aspirations for the year before going on a tour of the Design, Architecture, Art and Planning building.  Stay tuned for documentation of the creative sketchbooks and more updates as the AITM project unfolds.

Welcome / First Class Meeting

This blog is dedicated to the happenings of Art in the Market, a community based art program sponsored by the University of Cincinnati.  Art in the Market is directed towards local high school students who will have the chance to come to know art as a vehicle of expression, education, and social change through talking about and creating artwork.  Established in 1996, the program employs local high school students who work with graduate level Art Education students at the University of CIncinnati's College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning to talk about, make and install public works of art in and around the Findlay Market Area.

Classes for the fall quarter session are held twice a week, on Tuesdays at 4:30 PM and Saturdays at 12:00 PM.  We will meet in room 3440 in the University of Cincinnati's Aronoff Center (DAAP - pictured above), which is on the corner of Clifton Avenue and Marin Luther King.  Please join us for our first meeting this afternoon, at 4:30 PM in room 3440 on the ground floor. We look forward to meeting everyone and kicking off a promising and exciting new year!
